Letter from the General Manager
Welcome to the Pennhills Club 2013.
As we prepare for our 2013 season we have several exciting changes and upgrades to announce.
The Pennhills Club is proud to announce the addition of Jake Northrup as our head PGA Professional. Jake is a native of Ellicotville, NY. Northrup received his prestigious PGA member classification in 2000, graduating from The Professional Golf Management Program at New Mexico State University, in Las Cruces, NM. Northrup has been a PGA member employed at high end clubs in multiple sections all over the country. Most recently in the metropolitan section, as the assistant head golf professional at Hempstead Golf and Country Club, in Long Island, NY. His duties and responsibilities will include: daily golf operations, golf lessons, tournament operations, and pro shop management. Mr.Northrup and his wife Jennifer, have two children.
The Pennhills Club is also in the planning stages of constructing a new pro shop facility, that will house all pro shop merchandise as well as golf club and cart storage. The new facility will feature a practice facility.
A long range master plan for the Walter Travis designed golf course is also on schedule for 2013 with golf course architect Ian Anderson. Ian is a member of the American Society of Golf Course Architects. His true passion is working on Walter Travis designed golf courses. Ian has worked on several Walter Travis golf facilities varying from sympathetic renovations right through to a complete true restoration. The Pennhills Club is fortunate to have to original 18-hole design from Walter Travis. The Pennhills Club back nine was completed by Dick Wilson, we are preparing a long range plan to better mirror the back nine, to the front nine holes, which are an original Walter Travis design.
